Squeezed Juice Cleanse: 3 Detox Juice Recipes for the Gut, the Kidneys, and the Liver

The following three squeezed juice cleanse recipes are designed to clean and revitalize your body’s detoxification and elimination pathways, which, when not functioning optimally, cannot help the body eliminate toxic waste and chemicals properly.

Given the impact of our modern lifestyle that frequently celebrates overworking, over-consumption, and over-indulgence, regular detoxification through juicing and fasting are some of the best practices we can regularly undertake to ensure that we stay healthy and vibrant.

The Importance of Detoxification

Body detoxification is a health maintenance process that has been practiced by all cultures and traditions throughout centuries as a means to return the body to homeostasis and health. All the major healing traditions from Ayurveda to Traditional Chinese Medicine utilize detoxification as a primary method of treating and curing illness.

By removing obstructions to the healthy flow of energy, lymphatic and blood circulation, and toxins that cause tissue degeneration, detoxification allows the body to self-heal and achieve balance – the optimal state of health.

Without detoxification, we are stuck in the world of “treatments” that make us feel better in the short term but which cannot heal the root of the cause of our illness which requires cleaning and regeneration of tissues and organs.

Modern medicine, by contrast, fails to acknowledge the importance of detoxification. The medical profession focuses almost entirely on treating symptoms and not causes. As a result and in addition to our chemical-rich modern lifestyle, there is a growing number of people who have become overburdened with toxins accumulating in their bodies for decades.

Almost all chronic diseases take time to develop as the body loses its capacity to compensate and adapt to high inflammation levels. Remember, our bodies are incredibly intelligent and will do everything they can to protect us by weakening certain functions to compensate for more important ones until they run out of options and symptoms of disease start to form.

The accumulation of toxins is believed to be one of the major contributing factors for many common diseases such as cancer, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s disease. These diseases develop years of exposure. The longer the exposure, the more toxins – and the weaker our body’s ability to remove them.

Exposure to toxins, man-made chemicals, unhealthy foods, electromagnetic exposure, smoking, and alcohol can take their toll.

Here are some most common ways toxicity can damage the body:

  • corrodes the cells lining your intestines

  • affects and damages organ tissue

  • causes chronic inflammation, eventually leading to autoimmune disease

  • decreases the amount of oxygen that can get to the cells

  • causes nutritional deficiencies in the body

  • damages DNA

  • disrupts the normal hormonal function

  • leads to cancerous mutations and uncontrolled growth

What Are The Main Benefits of a Squeezed Juice Cleanse?

One of the best things about doing a squeezed juice cleanse is that it infuses all of the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals of the fruits or veggies directly into the bloodstream. This ensures that they are rapidly absorbed into the cells and immediately start working their magic.

Indeed, by removing fiber from fruits and veggies, we can reduce some of the digestive strain and energy that the body can direct toward healing. The secret of all healing lies in this essential concept: that we must internalize more energy than we spend.

And since digestion and assimilation of nutrients require 70% of our net daily energetic output, for the body to heal, it must have energy left over to heal and regenerate. Most of us not only overeat and eat heavy and toxic foods, but our lifestyles rob us of the essential energy we need to thrive and be healthy.

Juicing hydrates and alkalizes cells and tissues, providing essential simple sugars and nutrients to feed and energize them for our body’s optimal function!

To be and stay healthy, our body’s interstitial fluid must always be slightly more alkaline in chemistry than it is acidic. This pH state is ideal at the 80% alkaline and 20% acidic ratio, which is roughly 7.365 in pH measurements.

Most health issues develop when this fraction is reversed (when we internalize more acidic than alkaline chemistry through our diets, emotions, and lifestyle), and because of the highly acidic nature of the body, tissue inflammation and degeneration occur.

Many studies have shown that juicing provides significant health benefits, including:

  • Researchers from the University of Sydney showed that some cancer cells were killed within 15 minutes of applying orange juice to them.

  • According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the juices from grapefruit and oranges reduced blood cholesterol by 23% and 25%, respectively.

  • Researchers found that beet juice can cleanse the liver, lower blood pressure, improve athletic performance as well as reduce colon cancer risk.

  • Juice from bitter greens and microgreens (20 days or less) was shown to remove heavy metals from our bodies and naturally detoxify the liver.

  • Adding ginger to juicing can help improve circulation and reduce inflammation; it is also known to aid in digestion and nausea.

  • Carrot juice has been shown to have an anti-tumor effect on cancerous tumors.

  • Cabbage juice is being used by physicians and clinics to treat people with cancer, especially those of the stomach and colon.

  • Turmeric root (a member of the ginger family) has been scientifically shown to prevent as well as reverse Alzheimer’s disease! It also reduces arthritis inflammation, protects against heart disease, and treats liver problems.

As you can see, drinking fresh-squeezed fruit and vegetable juices give your body an immediate boost of nutrient-dense energy!

Why Support the Elimination Organs When Cleansing

Supporting the function of the gut, the kidneys and the liver is essential, as they are the body’s major detoxification and toxin elimination pathways!

In particular, the kidneys are responsible for ridding the body of excess water, toxins such as ammonia and urea (excess protein) as well as other toxins that may build up in the system over time. Without proper amounts of water, the organs fail to operate efficiently leading to an array of serious health problems that can affect our quality of life.

The gut is a major elimination organ that helps the liver detoxify unwanted chemicals and toxic compounds through elimination via feces. It is essential for our ability to assimilate nutrients from the foods we eat.

When the gut becomes congested due to a lack of fiber and over-consumption of processed sugars, proteins, and refined carbohydrates, the live lining of the gut can become damaged, leading to poor assimilation and absorption of key minerals such as zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, and B vitamins.

The gut is also responsible for our immunity through the balance of its intestinal flora where good bacteria outnumber bad bacteria.

The liver is a major elimination organ that filters toxins and converts them so that they are not as dangerous to the body. It also stores them in its own tissues to protect a body that is struggling until it has the means to filter them out successfully.

Known to conduct 2,000 functions in the body, it is the busy bee that works overtime to keep us alive. Without a properly functioning liver, the body becomes vulnerable to toxic build-up and chronic inflammation.

Since the gut, the kidneys, and the liver work together to detoxify acids, proteins, toxins, and metabolic waste, supporting the whole team will ensure that you strengthen their individual and synergistic functions that are at the root of optimal health.

Essentially, detoxifying and cleansing all three organs helps restore their function. That is why I truly recommend drinking cold-pressed juices every week (stay away from pasteurized, store-bought natural juices and smoothies that don't contain the enzymes you'll need to see the most beneficial results).

The Best Squeezed Juice Cleanse Protocol

The ideal juicing detox would entail a juice fast that entails only consuming the three juices within a specific span of time – the greater, the better!

Also, it is very important to only juice organic fruits and veggies, as you don’t want to add additional toxins to your body in the form of glyphosate and pesticides, which would undermine your goals with juicing.

Detox juicing protocols can vary depending on individual needs and goals. Here is a general guideline for a detox juicing protocol:

1. Choose organic fruits and vegetables: When juicing for detox, it is important to use organic produce to avoid exposure to pesticides and chemicals.

2. Focus on green vegetables: Green vegetables such as kale, spinach, and celery are high in antioxidants and chlorophyll, which can help detoxify the body.

3. Include citrus fruits: Citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit are high in vitamin C and can help support liver function.

4. Add ginger and turmeric: Ginger and turmeric are anti-inflammatory and can help support the body’s natural detoxification process.

5. Drink plenty of distilled water: It is important to stay hydrated during a detox juicing protocol. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of distilled water per day.

6. Avoid processed foods: During a detox juicing protocol, it is important to avoid processed foods, sugar, and alcohol.

My ideal squeezed juice cleanse protocol:

  • drink room-temperature lemon water the first thing in the morning on an empty stomach

  • enjoy the kidney juice in the morning for breakfast

  • consume the gut juice in the afternoon for lunch

  • have the liver cleanse juice in the evening for dinner

By opening the elimination channels first, the liver can then be supported in its function to filter out toxins that can be expelled effectively so that they don’t exacerbate cell and tissue damage!
